Viet Nam – Cuba: Strenthening cooperation in health care sector

In October, 2018, Deputy Minister of Health Mr. Truong Quoc Cuong received a Cuban delegation led by Mr Antonio Carricarte Corona, 1st Deputy Minister Ministry of Trade and Investment Cuba (MINCEX).

 
 

 


Mr Antonio Carricarte Corona was accompanied by  Mrs. Lianys Torres Rivera, Ambassador of Cuba to Viet Nam; Mrs. Claudia Fonseca Sosa, 3rd Secretary;  Mrs Daillana Bárzaga Castillo,Official MINCEX; Mrs. Liana Figuera Ferradas, Deputy Director of CECMED Cuba;  Mr. Ricardo Silva Rodríguez, Representative of BIOCUBAFARMA for Asian region and  Dr. Jose Hernández Ricardo, head of Cuban Medical Brigade in Viet Nam.

On behalf of Ministry of Health of Viet Nam, Deputy Minister Mr. Truong Quoc Cuong extended the warm welcome to Mr Antonio Carricarte Corona and the delegation. Both sides expressed high appreciation to the improved cooperation in the health care sector so far which actively contributed the traditional bilateral relation of Viet Nam and Cuba.

Within the meeting, both sides had reviewed the collaboration activities under the framework of signed Memorandum of Understanding between Ministry of Health of Viet Nam and the Ministry of Health of Cuba, BIOCUBAFARMA in the field of health care; the Memorandum of Understanding between the Drug Administration of Viet Nam and CECMED Cuba. Thanks to great efforts over the past few years, the Cuban side has sent approximately 40 Cuban doctors with qualification and considerable experience to work in some private hospitals in Viet Nam for example VINMEC, THUCUC...

In addition, in order to strengthen traditional relations between the two countries and two Ministries, it is proposed that the two sides promote exchange of ministerial-level delegations to discuss, work out directions and identify potential fields on which the two sides have strengths.


Two sides agreed to further develop cooperation within the session of Viet Nam – Cuba Inter-government Committee that is annually organized and attracted the participation of Vietnamese/Cuban partners.
