Applications are invited for two PaediatricAnaesthesia Fellowship positions in 2018 at University Children’s Hospital, Belgrade and the Institute for Health Protection of Mother and Child of Serbia. The intended start dates are the 1st April 2018 and the 1st July 2018 (dependent on accreditation with the Serbian Medical Council) and the duration of the fellowship is 3 months.

University Children’s Hospital, Belgrade and the Institute for Health Protection of Mother and Child of Serbia are the largest hospitals specialising in healthcare for women and children in Serbia. The Departments of PaediatricAnaesthesia in each hospital have about 18 consultant anaesthesiologists and they provide complete anaesthetic cover for all elective and emergency operations for children ranging in age from new-borns to 18 years. Around 6,000 paediatric operations are performed per year in each of the two hospitals.

The overall aim of the fellowship is to improve the quality and safety of paediatric and neonatal anaesthesia in parts of Eastern Europe, the former Soviet republics and other low resource settings. The first two months of the fellowship will cover the fundamentals of paediatric and neonatal anaesthesia. During the third month, the fellow can gain additional experience in one of three modules:

Cardiac anaesthesia
Paediatric intensive care
Regional anaesthesia and pain therapy

The fellowship is intended for a young fully qualified anaesthesiologist working in a low resource setting who wishes to improve knowledge and skills in the field of paediatricanaesthesia. Priority will be given to applicants from Eastern Europe and the former Soviet republics, but applications from further afield may be considered.
